Terms and Conditions
By completing a booking for railcar travel and any associated events with the Pahiatua Railcar Society (PRS) intending passengers hereby agree to the terms and conditions set out below:
General
- PRS, KiwiRail, Federation of Rail Organisations of NZ, ancillary transport operators and venue owners accept no responsibility for injury, medical expenses, loss or damage to passengers and their belongings throughout the duration of a PRS excursion, and all consequential actions that may occur.
- PRS accepts no responsibility for any consequences of late running or schedule variations. PRS onboard team will strive to ensure passengers are made aware of such changes and a pragmatic approach to meeting passenger’s expectations is maintained.
- Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by full fare-paying adult and must be supervised at all times.
- Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is prohibited anywhere onboard our railcars.
- The consumption of alcohol is prohibited on board our railcars except where PRS or charter organiser holds the appropriate liquor licensing.
- Passengers must be at the departure station 15 minutes before the stated departure time.
- Due to the heritage nature of our railcars, there is limited accessibility for people travelling with walking frames or wheelchairs. Please contact us before booking.
- PRS staff, on the date of travel, reserve the right to refuse any intending passenger travel if they hinder the safety or comfort of other passengers and staff.
Bookings
- All seating is pre-allocated. If no reasonable attempt has been made to request certain seating requirements at the time of booking or where bookings allow intending passengers to select seats, then PRS is unable to fulfil any specific seating requests.
- Each booking made carries a non-refundable booking fee of 10% of the total fare – except if the service does not operate, or if the service has been over-booked.
- By making a booking, intending passengers accept any additional non-refundable 3rd party booking and/or transaction fees.
- Tickets will be issued once payment of the total fare has been made in full.
- All transactions are completed in New Zealand dollars.
Cancellations
- PRS may vary or cancel wholly or in part the scheduled services shown in the PRS timetable and may vary the location at which PRS Services will pick up and set down Passengers.
- Intending passengers wishing to cancel a booking must do so in writing no later than 7 days prior to the departure date, any refunds will be issued in accordance with the refunds policy outlined below.
Refunds
- Where PRS cancels a service, or a service is over booked, a full refund, less any 3rd party booking/transaction fees, will be processed.
- Where an intending passenger cancels a booking at least 7 days prior to the departure date, a full refund, less the specified 10% booking fee and any 3rd party booking/transaction fees, will be processed.
- Where an intending passenger cancels a booking within 7 days of the departure date, no refund will be processed.
- Refunds shall not be processed whereby the service has broken down enroute, or the advertised means of conveyance is unavailable. If enroute, and a breakdown occurs, PRS will return all travelling passengers to their initial boarding station.
- In the event of a service cancellation, PRS reserves the right to offer a voucher to the same value for any future rail excursions as an alternative to refund.
- Refunds are processed manually by PRS and will be actioned as soon as possible after the refund request has been received.
